Q – Outside of your sport, what is your favourite way to sweat?
Probably playing any other sport. Volleyball has always been a favourite of mine and squash is up there too. I like how different they are from speed skating but still require that high level of focus.
Q – Which Canadian athlete do you think would make the best ninja?
I think a rock climber named Aaron Sadlier could make the best ninja. He’s a speed skater turned rock climber. Who knows what Canadian athletes will turn up at the next Olympics when rock climbing is introduced though!
Q – What is the scariest thing you’ve done that was way out of your comfort zone?
Crashed my motorcycle. Other than that, probably jumping over a wide crevasse with a long, long drop in between. This, along with bungee jumping and ski diving are all things I’ve done but are still within my comfort zone though. The process of getting married might be the most accurate (but least appropriate) answer.
Q – What does community mean to you?
To me, community means being a part of something bigger than myself and my day to day tasks. Community is able to accomplish different, bigger, challenging and exciting goals that both require everyone to work together, and also bring everyone together, for the betterment of community itself.
